As a new addition to my 3D printed lineup, I am adding a do-it-yourself lathe made from a sewing machine motor. The 3D printed base and chuck adapter files are purchased from my Etsy shop here. You print them with 50% infill.

The motor and chuck are purchased from Amazon... Links below.

When I first started making rings I made my first lathe using a sewing machine motor and found it to be extremely useful. I mainly used sandpaper to shape the rings and they turned out great, and even better with practice.

The lathe has 3 components:

The 3D printed base and chuck adapter files purchased here and printed by you.

The motor, purchased from Amazon. You can save a little money If you have a sewing machine motor already. Just a heads up sometimes the motor spindle is just a little bit different in size, so the adapter may need to be modified to get a really tight fit, but that is usually pretty easy to do.

The chuck, also purchased from Amazon.
