Jumbo Flyer Kit for Treadle Sewing Machine to Spinning Wheel Conversion

DESCRIPTION

This is a kit for the jumbo flyer assembly of a spinning wheel, so that you can build your own spinning wheel at home. This kit works particularly well with the cast-iron base of an old treadle-powered sewing machine. This flyer is a large model allowing one to make much thicker "art yarn" at home. I have successfully spun singles a quarter of an inch thick on this flyer.

To be very clear, this kit will require assembly and does not arrive fully assembled. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE WHEEL OR THE FRAME OR THE TREADLE PORTION OF THE SPINNING WHEEL.

The kit includes materials for 1 large bobbin, the flyer (including the hooks), and the mother-of-all (including the hardware for the Irish tension mechanism). In other words, this kit includes the 3D-printed parts and hardware to assemble a jumbo flyer conversion kit.

INSTRUCTIONS

I don't currently have a tutorial for a printed flyer conversion. However, I've done a conversion before in wood; the parts and principles are basically the same.
